Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

In March of 1968, student activists demanded for social justice, greater educational opportunities and an end to the war in Vietnam by walking out of their schools as a sign of protest. During that time, LAUSD largely ignored Latin American history, and 
Hispanic students were forbidden from speaking Spanish and were steered toward vocational/trade careers instead of four year colleges.
