Chavez Ravine & Dodgers • Hispanic Heritage Month

The neighborhood of Chavez Ravine was home to many Mexican-American families before the construction of Dodger Stadium. The residents of Chavez Ravine selected to live there because they were able to purchase a home and avoid ethnic housing discrimination and many were able to prosper. In the early 1950s, the city of Los Angeles forcibly and wrongfully evicted the residents from their homes.
